Bihar Board

The Andhra Pradesh Board Exam is an important academic examination conducted by the Board of Intermediate Education, Andhra Pradesh (BIEAP) and the Board of Secondary Education, Andhra Pradesh (BSEAP) in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. These board exams are held annually to evaluate the knowledge and skills of students studying in the state's secondary and higher secondary schools. 

History of the Andhra Pradesh Board Exam

The history of the Andhra Pradesh Board Exam dates back to the formation of the state of Andhra Pradesh in 1956. The Board of Secondary Education, Andhra Pradesh (BSEAP) was established to regulate and supervise the secondary education system in the state. Later, in 1971, the Board of Intermediate Education, Andhra Pradesh (BIEAP) was established to govern the intermediate education system. These two boards work in coordination to conduct the board exams for both secondary and higher secondary levels.

Examination Structure

The Andhra Pradesh Board Exam is conducted for two levels: the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination for Class 10 students and the Intermediate examination for Class 12 students. The examination structure for both levels is as follows:

Secondary School Certificate (SSC) Examination

  • The SSC examination is conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Andhra Pradesh (BSEAP).
  • It is held at the end of Class 10, usually in the months of March/April.
  • The subjects included in the SSC examination are divided into two parts: compulsory subjects and optional subjects.
  • Compulsory subjects usually include First Language (Telugu, Hindi, English), Second Language (Telugu, Hindi), Mathematics, General Science, and Social Studies.
  • Students can choose optional subjects based on their interests and career aspirations, such as Physical Science, Biological Science, Social Studies, etc.

Intermediate Examination

  • The Intermediate examination is conducted by the Board of Intermediate Education, Andhra Pradesh (BIEAP).
  • It is held at the end of Class 12, usually in the months of March/April.
  • The Intermediate examination is divided into two parts: First Year and Second Year.
  • In the First Year, students need to appear for Part-I: English and three optional subjects.
  • In the Second Year, students need to appear for Part-II: Second Language (Telugu/Hindi/Sanskrit) and three optional subjects.

Evaluation Process and Grading System

The evaluation process for the Andhra Pradesh Board Exam involves both internal assessments conducted by the schools throughout the academic year and the final board examination. The weightage for internal assessments and the final exam varies for different subjects.

The grading system used by the Andhra Pradesh Board is based on the performance of students in both internal assessments and the final exam. The grading system is as follows:

SSC Level Grading System

  • Marks Range: 91-100 (A1), 81-90 (A2), 71-80 (B1), 61-70 (B2), 51-60 (C1), 41-50 (C2), 35-40 (D), Below 35 (E)
  • Grade Point Average (GPA): The GPA is calculated based on the grades obtained in all subjects.

Intermediate Level Grading System
