As we know that the admission process in MBBS is very important. The merit of the students is assessed through an entrance test. So, if there are different entrance exams in the same country, students have to appear multiple times to appear for them.
However, with effect from 2020, admission to AIIMS MBBS will be done through NEET. Its main objective is to ensure common standards of medical education in the country and to avoid students appearing in more than one examination.
This decision is also beneficial for the students as now they will not have to prepare separately for multiple exams. They will be able to get admission in their favorite institute by passing the same exam.
AIIMS, New Delhi has issued a notification in this regard on 31 December 2019. The notice states that "admission to MBBS course in AIIMS, New Delhi, and all AIIMS like institutions will be done through NEET (UG) and this examination will be conducted by the National Testing Authority and not by AIIMS, New Delhi.
