National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) is an important examination for admission to medical and dental courses in India which has taken its place among all other national and state level medical entrance examinations. History of Examination

NEET started under the Indian Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. This exam was necessary to get admission in medical courses of various state and central government institutions. The first NEET exam was conducted in 2013, but its full format was implemented in 2016.

Earlier, different states had different types of entrance exams, due to which students had to apply for multiple exams. The advent of NEET gave students the opportunity to prepare for a single exam and paved the way for them to easily get into medical and dental colleges.

Notability of NEET

NEET has grown in popularity and importance as it has replaced all other national and state level medical exams in India as the single medical entrance exam. Through this, students can qualify for admission to MBBS and BDS courses, and they can get seats in government and private medical and dental colleges.

Through NEET score one can apply for admission to the following seats:

• All India Quota Seats: On the basis of NEET score, students can get admission in All India Quota seats, which are reserved for different states.
• State Government Quota Seats: Admission is also provided on the basis of NEET score for government medical and dental colleges run by state governments.
• Central Institute/University/Deemed University: Some Central Institutes and Universities also provide admission on the basis of NEET score, such as All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and Dental Institutes.
• State/Management/NRI quota seats in private medical/dental colleges or any private university: Private medical and dental colleges also have seats based on NEET scores, which include state, management, and NRI quota seats.
• Central Pool Quota Seats: The seats offered by some central institutes come under Central Pool Quota seats, which are reserved for students from other states.

Thus, NEET has made the admission process in the medical and dental field in India clear and simple and helps students towards a promising career. The importance of NEET and its popularity has made it an important and prestigious exam, realizing the importance of which students consider it as an important part of the medical admission process.

- The NEET-UG 2023 Exam will be conducted on 7th May 2023.

Candidates will be allowed to carry mask, hand gloves, a personal transparent water bottle, a personal small hand sanitizer, and other important documents.

• All staff members contributing to the conduct of the examination, including the Examination Administrator, will be provided with appropriate training before conducting the examination. The main objective of this training is to ensure that the staff can take care of the safety and health of all the candidates.
• One day before the examination, complete sanitization of the examination centers will be done. With this, infection can be prevented by repeatedly keeping in mind the health and safety of the candidates and staff.
• When the examination is over, students will be allowed to leave the examination hall one by one. This will ensure that the rules of social distancing are followed and necessary distance is maintained between the students.
• It is important that every candidate follows these guidelines and is mindful of everyone's safety. In this time, prevention of infection is possible only with the cooperation and understanding of all of us.
