The final match of the Asia Cup 2022 was played between Sri Lanka and Pakistan at the International Cricket Stadium in Dubai on 11 September. In this match, Sri Lanka has won the Asia Cup 2022 trophy by defeating Pakistan very easily. This is Sri Lanka's sixth title in the history of the Asia Cup, while the Indian team has won the Asia Cup for the most number of times so far. India has won 7 Asia Cup titles. In the T20 Asia Cup played this year, India was eliminated after losing to Sri Lanka in the Super 4 round, while the Indian team won the second biggest win in T20 international cricket in the match played with Afghanistan.

This year was the 15th edition of the Asia Cup which was hosted by Sri Lanka. Due to the ongoing economic crisis in Sri Lanka, it was organized by Sri Lanka in UAE. If we talk about the first Asia Cup title, then India won the first Asia Cup by defeating Sri Lanka in 1984. Apart from this, 14 editions of the Asia Cup were won by India, in total so far India has won 7 Asia Cup titles, while Sri Lanka has won the Asia Cup title 6 times.

Asia Cup Of Cricket History: Asia Cup started in the year 1984. In the beginning, only India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka played in this tournament, but gradually, Bangladesh and Afghanistan also joined this tournament. These teams have definitely done well in the Asia Cup. But haven't been able to win any title so far.

So far only India, Sri Lanka and Pakistan have won the Asia Cup. At the same time, India has won the Asia Cup title maximum 7 times, Sri Lanka 6 times and Pakistan 2 times.

Only three teams won Asia Cup

In the history of the Asia Cup, only three teams have won the title so far. India has become the champion seven times. At the same time, Sri Lanka won the title six times. Pakistan was successful in lifting the trophy twice. Apart from these three, Bangladesh is the only team which has not become the champion even after reaching the final. Teams from Afghanistan, United Arab Emirates and Hong Kong have not reached the finals. Nepal will play in this tournament for the first time.

Asia Cup 2022 (Winner: Sri Lanka)

Last year in 2022, the 15th season of the Asia Cup played in the United Arab Emirates hosted by Sri Lanka ended with Sri Lanka becoming the champion. In the final match played between Sri Lanka and Pakistan on 11 September 2022, Sri Lanka won the final match by defeating Pakistan by 23 runs and won the Champions Trophy for the sixth time. This tournament was organized in T20 format.

Asia Cup 2018 (Winner: India)

The last season of Asia Cup Champions Trophy was held in UAE in the year 2018 which was the 14th season of this cricket tournament in which India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Hong Kong participated.

In the final of this tournament played in One Day International cricket format, there was a title clash between India and Bangladesh in which India defeated Bangladesh by 3 wickets and won the 7th title.

Asia Cup 2016 (Winner: India)

The 2016 Asia Cup was the 13th edition and a T20 International cricket tournament that was held in Bangladesh. This was the first time that the tournament was played in T20 format in which India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and UAE participated.

This time India remained unbeaten throughout the tournament and managed to win the Asia Cup trophy for the sixth time after defeating Bangladesh by 8 wickets in the final.

Asia Cup 2014 (Winner: Sri Lanka)

Bangladesh hosted the 12th edition of the Asia Cup cricket tournament in 2014, this time apart from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, Afghanistan also participated in the tournament.

This time in the final there was a title clash between the defending champions Pakistan and Sri Lanka in which Sri Lanka won and captured their fifth title.

Asia Cup 2012 (Winner: Pakistan)

The 2012 international cricket tournament was once again held in Bangladesh and this season also featured the same 4 Test playing nations.

This time the teams of Pakistan and Bangladesh reached the final where Pakistan defeated Bangladesh by 2 runs and captured the Champions Trophy for the second time.

Asia Cup 2010 (Winner: India)

The 10th season of the tournament was hosted by Sri Lanka and featured only Test playing nations India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

However, in the final match between India and Sri Lanka, India defeated Sri Lanka by 86 runs and achieved the distinction of becoming the champion of this tournament on the fifth day.

Asia Cup 2008 (Winner: Sri Lanka)

In 2008, the ninth edition of Asia Cup was held in Pakistan for the first time in which India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Hong Kong and UAE participated.

In the final match of this tournament played in 40 over format, Sri Lanka defeated India by 100 runs and became the champion for the fourth time.

Asia Cup 2004 (Winner: Sri Lanka)

After a gap of 4 years, the eighth season of this tournament took place in Sri Lanka between 6 teams. This year, apart from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, teams from Hong Kong and UAE also participated in it.

Although both the new teams were weak and were eliminated from this tournament in the group stage itself, the final match was once again between Sri Lanka and India in which Sri Lanka won and won the third title.

Asia Cup 2000 (Winner: Pakistan)

The seventh season of the tournament was held in Bangladesh in which India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka participated.

This time India's performance was not good but Pakistan won the final match between Sri Lanka and Pakistan in Dhaka ground and became champion for the first time.

Asia Cup 1997 (Winner: Sri Lanka)

In 1997, the sixth season of Asia Cup was played in the hosting of Sri Lanka in which all 4 teams participated.

The 50-over final match saw a one-sided contest between India and Sri Lanka, which Sri Lanka won and became champions of the tournament for the second time.

Asia Cup 1995 (Winner: India)

The fifth season of this tournament was held in the United Arab Emirates in 1995 in which a total of 4 teams including India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh participated.

The final match took place between India and Sri Lanka in which India won its fourth title of this tournament by defeating Sri Lanka by a huge margin.

Asia Cup 1990–91 (Winner: India)

The fourth edition of the Asia Cup was held in India in late 1990 and early 1991, with Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and India participating.

Once again Sri Lanka and India clashed in the final and after defeating Sri Lanka, India became the champion for the third time.

Pakistan did not participate in the tournament due to strained political relations with India.

Asia Cup 1988 (Winner: India)

The third season of Asia Cup was held in 1988 in the hosting country Bangladesh in which four teams India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh participated.

In the final of this tournament, India defeated Sri Lanka and won the title of this tournament for the second time.

Asia Cup 1986 (Winner: Sri Lanka)

The second season of the Asia Cup was played in 1986 in the host country Sri Lanka between three teams Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and Bangladesh, in which Sri Lanka won its first title by defeating Pakistan in the final.

India did not participate in this season due to strained cricket relations with Sri Lanka.

Asia Cup 1984 (Winner: India)

The inaugural season of the Asia Cup was played in 1984 hosted by Sharjah (UAE) in which India, Sri Lanka and Pakistan participated.

In the first season of this tournament held in ODI format, India won its first title by defeating Sri Lanka in the final.
